What happens to our existing email during the migration?

During migration, mail delivery continues uninterrupted to your existing email platform. We run a delta sync to capture mail received during the migration window and migrate it before cutover. At cutover, we update your MX records to point to Microsoft 365 — typically during a low-traffic window such as early morning. The entire cutover process typically takes less than 60 minutes, during which time a small number of emails may be delayed (not lost) while DNS propagates.

Do you configure security after the migration?

Yes — and this is one of the most important parts of the process. A bare Microsoft 365 tenant out of the box is not secure. We configure a full security baseline as part of every migration: MFA enforcement, Conditional Access policies, Defender for Business endpoint protection, Defender for Office 365 anti-phishing and safe links, DMARC/DKIM/SPF email authentication, and audit logging. Without this configuration, a new Microsoft 365 tenant is significantly more vulnerable than a properly managed on-premise environment.
