CX IT Services – COVID-19 Action Plan for Remote Workers

CX IT Services beleives working closely as a team is vital to success of a business. It creates a good company culture and makes a workplace enjoyable for all which as a result retains good people.

In an effort to keep CX IT Services clients safe, working from home may become necessary. Below are some recommendations for your staff members to follow to ensure we continue to provide the best experience to our clients.

Recommended Hardware Requirements

We recommend having a good reliable internet connection – NBN or 4G/5G connection

Ideally have a company supplied laptop with webcam and/or headset

If computer is a users personal laptop – we can install CX IT Services Managed Antivirus

Mobile Phone with Reliable Service

Productivity

‐ Allocate a dedicated area for to conduct your work. Preferable isolated away from distractions
‐ We recommend using MS Teams and video chat when working with staff members.
‐ Use your presence setting in MS Teams to show your availability – eg Lunch, Meeting, Away
‐ Your work day should follow the schedule as if you are in the office.
‐ We recommend creating a log of what your working on which you can provide to your manager to show your activity whilst at home.

Security

Working remotely increases the opportunites for Cybercriminals, so be extra vigilant with all communications and internal and external
requests.
‐ Lock your computer – by pressing CTRL ALT DEL and Lock Computer – when you are away.
‐ Do not allow others in your household use your computer.

– If your in a cafe or out in public – be mindful of your conversations and what your displaying on your screen.

Communications

‐ Forward your office extension to your cell phone – Or if your using 3CX ensure your App is active on Phone and Desktop App is open on laptop/PC
‐ Setup MS Teams meetings for all team communication.
‐ Use MS Teams for internal communications (Voice, Video, Chat)

Risks of Remote Access with Personal Devices

Limited to No Security – Personal devices will not have the same level of security applied to your office devices which are managed by CX IT Services.

Managed Antivirus – We need to ensure your personal devices have adequate security in place to protect against viruses and keep your company data safe.
Patch Management – We have no control over your personal devices updates. Updates are managed on company owned devices to keep them safe from Vulnerabilities.
- We need to ensure any personal devices are up to date and dont pose an security risks to your company data/network.
VPN Connection from a Personal Device – IF a personal device is used to create a VPN to the company network – this is basically the same as bringing in your personal device to the office. Any and all malware infections/exploits that exist on that personal machine potentially are now inside your company network/firewall – this then gives that malware the ability to infiltrate other systems in your network. So its vital we assess any devices you want to connect to your network.

LogMeIn Emergency Remote Work Kits free for three months.
Microsoft Teams is free for six months.
